Preparation Of Durga Puja At Bhawanipore Mullick Bari

Mullick bari of Bhawanipore preparing itself for ensuing Durga Puja.
The idol of debi Durga would be painted now. 'Chandipaath' would be
echoed here from the very auspicious day of Mahalaya.

The inception of Durga puja here at Mullick bari was in the
year 1925. But their ancestors initiated puja at Guptipara of Hooghly
district in the year 1860.

Mullick bari of Bhawanipore is the ancestral house of veteran actor
Ranjit Mullick. His grandfather's father Radha Gobinda Mullick founded
the Durga puja at the Thakur Dalan of Mullick Bari; since then, the
puja is being performed here.

Mullick Bari have two Thakur Dalan - Durga Dalan of inner house
and Annapurna Dalan of outer house. But the Durga puja is being
performed at Durga Dalan. Even Lakshmi, Saraswati - all the pujas are
being performed here.

'Ak chala' idol and ডাকের সাজ are the custom here. কলা বউ is being
bathed inside the house. The puja is being performed here according to
বিশুদ্ধ সিদ্ধান্ত। Moreover, লুচিভোগ is being done here, instead of
অন্নভোগ। ছানার ডালনা, আলু-ফুলকপির তরকারি and various curries are being
prepared here during puja. Cultural programme by the family members
are being organised at Thakur Dalan on the night of Nabami.

The idol use to immers on river Ganga by carrying on a structure made
by bamboo each year and the male members of the family use to go with
the idol in a dancing mood as per custom.

Kripamoyee Kali Mandir Of Baranagar

Kripamoyee Kali Mandir of Baranagar, popularly known as Joy Mitra Kali Bari, is situated on the bank of river Hooghly at Baranagar of Kolkata. Baranagar is a very old place, more than 500 years ago this place was existed.  Famous zaminder Joyram Mitra of Sovabazar established this temple in mid-April of the year 1851. He bought about 3 bighas land at Baranagar from some James saheb and established the temple there similar to Brahmamoyee Kali temple of Mulajor of Shyamnagar.The goddess here is Dakshina Kali (দক্ষিণা কালী).
