Durga Puja Of Kolkata Gets UNESCO Heritage Status

Durga Puja of Kolkata just indexed in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in the 16-members meeting of UNESCO held in Paris yesterday. It is a proud moment for not only Bengal, but for entire India. India-England Eden Test From 5 November

Third test match between India and England would be played at Eden Gardens from 5th November 2012. The first test would be started from 16 October in Ahmedabad. Second test in Nagpur and the fourth in Mumbai. The England cricket team will arrive India on 28 October. They'll play 5 ODI and 2 T-20 matches also. -- A. B.

100 Years Of Delhi - 100 Years Of New Delhi

In the year 1911, on this day, King George The Fifth declared Delhi as the capital of India. Before that, Kolkata (then Calcutta) was the capital of India. A colourful royal rally was organised to commemorate this occasion in Delhi 100 years ago. Today is the birth centenary of New Delhi also. 100 years ago, on this day, New Delhi was founded. -- A. B.

Kajuo Ajuma Of Japan - Also Of India

The legendary Prof Kajuo Ajuma of Japan passed away last Thursday in Tokyo. He loved India and himself was a specialist on Rabindranath Tagore. Major part of his 80 years he passed to cultivate India. And lion's share of that major part was occupied Tagore. He was dedicated to spread Tagore culture in Japan. And it was rare in world history. Shantiniketan was his second land. To cultivate Japanese culture and literature, he established 'Nippon Bhavan' at Viswabharati and India-Japan cultural centre 'Rabindra-Okakura Bhavan' in Kolkata. Rabindranath was his north star till the end of his life. A few years ago, he told in Kolkata in clear Bengali that, he was admirer of Bangla and Bengalee. Sister Nivedita came to Kolkata to work with Swami Vivekananda. Belur Math near Kolkata established by Swamiji. He trotted India to know his country well.
