International Kite Festival


 

This year, 11 January is the date when the International Kite Festival was inaugurated in Ahmedabad. Every year, ambassadors from around the world visit Gujarat to witness this kite festival. This year, ambassadors from 11 countries have come to Gujarat. Food stall and craft stall vendors earn lakhs of rupees during the festival. Moreover, over five and a half lakh people attended the International Kite Festival last year. Gujarat has gained global recognition as the state that manufactures the most kites. Ahmedabad, Nadiad, Khambhat, and Surat have become hubs for kite production. Today, Gujarat holds a 65 percent share of the country’s kite market. Kites are also exported annually from Gujarat to countries like the USA, UK, and Canada.

143 kite flyers from 47 countries and 52 kite flyers from 11 other states in India are participating in this year’s festival. Moreover, 417 kite flyers from 11 cities in Gujarat are also taking part. 

International Kite Festival 2025 will feature participants from countries such as Argentina, Australia, Belarus, Belgium, Bhutan, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Israel, Japan, Republic of Korea, Lebanon, Lithuania, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, and Vietnam.

500 Year's Old Nimai Tirtha Ghat - Reminiscences Of Sri Chaitannya Deb

It says that Nimai Sri Chaitannya Deb once came to district Hooghly for the pilgrimage of Tarakeswar. So he bathed in river Ganga on the bathing ghat of Baidyabati. Then had started his journey to Tarakeswar on foot. It took about 12 hours to reach Tarakeswar. Later, the bathing ghat was named on him and now known to all as Nimai Tirtha Ghat. So, the ghat is about 500 year's old. Kabikankan Mukundaram mentioned this ghat in his mangal kabya, about 400 years ago. Raja Harishchandra of Seoraphuly constructed Nistarini Mandir and Bhadrakali Mandir in the year 1827 beside NimaiTirtha Ghat. then, lakhs of pilgrims take bath on river Ganga from this ghat and take holy water, visit Ma Nistarini and Debi Bhadrakali near, then use to go for Tarakeswar on foot to pour that Gangajal on the shiblinga of Baba Taraknath. Highest Jagadhatri Idol Of Chandannagar : Fatakgora
