This is the Chandi Mandap of Malda's Chanchal Paharpur Raj family's
goddess - 'ashtodhatu' idol of debi Durga. The idol is being kept
here throughout the year, and during Durga puja, this family idol use
to bring at the puja mandap to keep beside the clay idols. This puja
is about 300 year's old. It says that Ramchandra Roychoudhury -
grandfather of raja Saratchandra Roychoudhury was the founder of this
puja. He picked the 'ashtodhatu' idol of debi Durga from the Satighat
of river Mahananda. And established at their Chandi Mandap. The
ancestors of them were the Dewans of Nilkuthi.
All the communities use to take part in this festival.
