It was opened in the year 1874 and named after Sir
Stuart Hogg, the then Chairman of Calcutta Corporation in the year
1903. And since then, the market known as Hogg saheber bazar or Hogg's
Market alongwith the popular name 'New Market'. It is situated at the
heart of city.
