In the year 1874 on this day Maharani Sucharu Debi was born in Kolkata. She was famous for her contributions in the field of poetry, paintings and music. Her aesthetic sense, cultural and social activities was remarkable. She wrote collection of poems 'Bhakti-arghya' and 'Pranati'. In the year 1956 on this day famous actor of yester years Ashu Bose died in Kolkata. He was a regular actor of stage at Star Theatre. He used to talk in Oriya and his directors used this agility of him on the stage. He was a very popular comic artist of old Kolkata. -- A. B.
