Anath Babur Bhoi : New Bangla Movie By Sandip Roy

Sandip Roy, son of Satyajit Roy, is making a feature film with four short
stories, out of which three by Satyajit Roy and the fourth story was
written by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. Sandip Roy just completed the
shooting of 'Bhoot Bhobishyat' written by Sharadindu at Raipur, a
small village near Bolpur of Bengal. And at the same place, started
the shooting of next film 'Anath Babur Bhoi' - a short story written
by Satyajit Ray. Dwijen Bandyopadhyay is playing the lead role as
Anath babu, who is a very interesting character with vast
experience of ghosts and haunted houses. The rajbari of Raipur is the
haunted house of Raghunathpur as stated in the story. The rajbari is
now dilapidated as seen in this picture. It is originally the property
of Lord Sinha family, who gave the lands of Bolpur to Tagore family to
build Shantiniketan. A road in Kolkata named Lord Sinha Road. However,
the stories of this film are purely ghost stories. And Tarini Khuro
are the story-teller. Paran Bandyopadhyay is playing the role of
Tarini Khuro. But, the role of writer in the story Anath Babur Bhoi is
playing by Shaswata Chatterjee. Anath babu is coming to Raghunathpur
by bus (as seen in this picture) and the sketch of Anath babu by
Satyajit Roy as illustration of the book. The film unit made a periodical old model train and a bus whose body was built by woods. Sandip Roy is doing a great
job by making this film of ghost stories because, it is the first film
in Bengali consisting four stories. Shooting of rest of the stories
will be done within this year. Sandip spotted the location of the
story 'Lucknow-er Dual' in Lucknow. And shooting of the story 'Brown
Saheber Bari' will start at Kalimpong after the monsoon.
