Today, the last day of 1417 - Bangla year. On this day, Charak Puja or Gajon celebration throughout rural Bengal (including Kolkata) can be seen. It is being observed with festivity. Today, as the Choitra sankranti, the month-long 'brata' was completed and after the rituals of worshiping Lord Shiva - the devoted pilgrims taking pain on their bodies as we can see in the pictures here. This evening, at Salt Lake Yuva Bharati Krirangan of Kolkata cheered the city football club - East Bengal for the glorious victory. East Bengal defeated another football club of the city of joy - the century-old Mohun Bagan by 2 goals to 1 - well played full 90 minutes. Today, the last big match of this football season between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal at Salt Lake Yuva Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. At previous four matches, the green-maroon team didn't taste the Brigade win. So, today's match is their war to turn. If Bagan wins it will be their great achievement and if East Bengal wins then they will touch the number two position.-- A. B.
