Madhubani Theme Of Kankurgachi Mitali Sangha Durga Puja 2015

Image
On this 79th year, Kankurgachi Mitali Sangha is creating a piece of village as their puja mandap adorned by Madhubani paintings. Theme-maker Sourajit Bandyopadhyay is now busy with some painters of Madhuban who are originally Maithili, and they are creating paintings on the puja mandap along with other artists who are creating artistic atmosphere at the puja mandap by creating Madhubani art by thermocol. The whole puja pandal would like to be a giant palanquin of Madhubani art. Similarly, the clay idol of debi Durga is being created by Kumartuli artist Parimal Pal. The image of Ma Durga here would remind one 'roop' of a girl of Madhubani villages. As a whole, this year Durga puja of Kankurgachi Mitali Sangha would really be an event of art & craft. -- A. B.
