A Tribute To Radhakanta Nandi

Radhakanta Nandi was the most efficient and popular commercial tabla
player of Kolkata. He accompanied with almost all the famous singers
of Bengal. Attending live programmes of Manna Dey, Sandhya
Mukhopadhyay, Manabendra Mukhopadhyay accompanied by Radhakanta Nandi
were always a pleasant experience couldn't explained in words.
 
Moreover, he loved to accompany with eminent classical maestros like
Pandit Nikhil Bandyopadhyay, Pandit Yashraj and Pandit Manilal Nag. A
CD of live programme by Manna Dey will be published on 9 June, 2014
at Press Club. Radhakanta Nandi was on tabla with Manna Dey at this
live function. Hence, it will be a big gift for the listeners of this function.


 By this way, tribute will be paid to Radhakanta Nandi too.
Radhakanta Nandi Institute and Netaji Subhas Azad Hind Foundation
will jointly venture it. The title of the CD is "E Kon Jugalbandi".
Manilal Nag, Bikram Ghosh, Abhishek Chatterjee, Indrani Sen, Saikat
Mitra, Jagannath Basu and Bibhas Chakraborty will present on the
occasion.

May you provide a photograph of Radhakanta Nandi with the tabla? I had not seen him but loved by the audio. Great artist!

At that time, I couldn't find suitable photo of Radhakanta Nandi. I hope to write soon about him with a photo of the legend.

রাধাকান্ত নন্দীর বিখ্যাত কিছু সঙ্গতের রেকর্ডিং কি আলাদা করে আপনি একত্র করে এখানে তুলে দিতে পারেন? যেমন, আমার যতদূর মনে পড়ে, সন্ধ‍্যা মুখোপাধ্যায়ের কয়েকটি  অবিস্মরণীয় রাগপ্রধান গানের সঙ্গে রাধাকান্ত নন্দীর তবলা সঙ্গত সেই গানগুলির আকর্ষণ এক অন্য মাত্রায় তুলে দিয়েছিলো। আর, মানবেন্দ্র মুখোপাধ্যায়ের নজরুল-গীতিগুলির তো কথাই নেই।তাছাড়া, যদি নিখিল বন্দ‍্যোপাধ্যায়ের মতো শিল্পীদের সঙ্গে তাঁর সঙ্গতের রেকর্ডিং পাওয়া যায়, তাহলে তো অতুলনীয় ব্যাপার হবে।

এখানে কোনো গান বা সঙ্গতের রেকর্ডিং দেওয়া অসুবিধে। কপিরাইটের ব্যাপার আছে। আপনি ইউটিউবে পুরনো বাংলা সিনেমার গান, বেসিক রেকর্ডে মান্না দে, সন্ধ্যা মুখোপাধ্যায়, মানবেন্দ্র মুখোপাধ্যায় এবং ধনঞ্জয় ভট্টাচার্য-র গানের সঙ্গে রাধাকান্ত নন্দীর তবলা সঙ্গত শুনতে পাবেন। ওখানে সন্ধ্যা মুখোপাধ্যায়-এর বাংলা রাগপ্রধান গান গুলির সঙ্গেও রাধাকান্ত নন্দীর সঙ্গত পাবেন। সার্চ করলেই পাবেন।

It says that Nimai Sri Chaitannya Deb once came to district Hooghly for the pilgrimage of Tarakeswar. So he bathed in river Ganga on the bathing ghat of Baidyabati. Then had started his journey to Tarakeswar on foot. It took about 12 hours to reach Tarakeswar. Later, the bathing ghat was named on him and now known to all as Nimai Tirtha Ghat. Raja Harishchandra of Seoraphuly constructed Nistarini Mandir and Bhadrakali Mandir in the year 1827 beside NimaiTirtha Ghat. then, lakhs of pilgrims take bath on river Ganga from this ghat and take holy water, visit Ma Nistarini and Debi Bhadrakali near, then use to go for Tarakeswar on foot to pour that Gangajal on the shiblinga of Baba Taraknath. Kripamoyee Kali Mandir Of Baranagar

Kripamoyee Kali Mandir of Baranagar, popularly known as Joy Mitra Kali Bari, is situated on the bank of river Hooghly at Baranagar of Kolkata. Baranagar is a very old place, more than 500 years ago this place was existed.  Famous zaminder Joyram Mitra of Sovabazar established this temple in mid-April of the year 1851. He bought about 3 bighas land at Baranagar from some James saheb and established the temple there similar to Brahmamoyee Kali temple of Mulajor of Shyamnagar.The goddess here is Dakshina Kali (দক্ষিণা কালী). If you walk from 'Kuthi ghat' of Baranagar river bank a few steps ahead, you'll reach to the temple - 171 years old this temple is situated by the side of Hara Kumar Thakur Strand.
